Today, our director Hever Aguilar was invited to take part in the GainForest community call, an international space that brings together innovative projects in environmental restoration and impact-driven technology. This opportunity marked a milestone for Reforest Trees, as it allowed us to share how we are developing in Peru a model of carbon footprint–based reforestation, supported by Web3 transparency and open data validation.
A Message from Peru to the World
In his presentation, our director emphasized that reforestation is not only about planting trees—it must also involve ecosystem restoration, green job creation, and food security. He explained how Reforest Trees works directly with Andean and Amazonian communities to make reforestation a true tool for sustainable development.
He also highlighted that we are currently one of only two organizations in Peru working with a carbon footprint reforestation approach using Web3 technology, which ensures transparency, traceability, and trust in every action we take.
Impact and Ongoing Projects
During the session, we shared the progress of our two active projects on the OpenForest Protocol platform, covering 350 hectares in San Francisco de Choras and Chuquisyunca. These projects combine environmental impact (carbon capture and biodiversity restoration) with social and economic impact (local jobs, community nurseries, and food security).
We also announced that we are preparing six new projects in the Amazon, Central Jungle, and Andes of Peru, critical regions where ecological restoration is urgent and has the potential to transform lives.
